3 Avengers Strategies You Can Apply to Your Brand

Do you remember the things that transport us back to our childhood? The taste of the food our mom used to prepare, the smell of our childhood home, and the movies we grew up watching. We can watch those movies repeatedly because they take us to a happy place in our childhood. Speaking of those movies, let's talk about superheroes. The superheroes we admired as children are now part of who we are. Today, I want to talk about Marvel and how a group of creative people has shaped our behavior, tastes, and hobbies as a generation. And it's all supported by a marketing strategy that I greatly admire and that can be replicated in broad strokes. So, let's dive in and learn a little more about this giant.

Let's talk about Marvel Comics, the American comic book publisher known as "The House of Ideas," for creating countless iconic characters in the superhero genre. You've probably heard of their best-known comics like The Fantastic 4, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Captain America, The Avengers, Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and the X-Men. And did you know that in 2009, The Walt Disney Company bought Marvel Entertainment for a whopping 4 billion dollars? That's right, nearly 5,000 characters became part of the Disney family.

But today, I want to focus on one of Marvel's most successful brands: "The Avengers." This franchise has shattered box office records worldwide and dominates digital platforms, making it a social media sensation. And that's why I want to take a closer look and analyze what makes it so successful.

Have you ever wondered how Marvel managed to create such a wildly successful brand with their Avengers franchise? Well, it turns out that there's a lot we can learn from their approach! First, let's take a look at what makes their movies so appealing. According to Petit (2020), it's a combination of familiar characters, exciting action, and a healthy dose of humor that makes their films a hit with audiences of all ages. By weaving these elements together, Marvel has managed to create a cinematic universe that appeals to both comic book fans and casual moviegoers alike.

But the key to Marvel's success goes beyond just creating great movies. They've also built a strong bond with their audience, thanks in part to their commitment to family-friendly content. By balancing the needs of different age groups and interests, they've managed to create a community that feels inclusive and welcoming to all. And they've extended this sense of community to social media, where they've built a massive following across multiple platforms.

So, what can we learn from Marvel's success? By focusing on creating quality content that appeals to a wide range of interests and age groups and building a strong sense of community around your brand, you can create a loyal following that will stick with you for the long haul. Whether you're a business owner, a marketer, or just a fan of good storytelling, there's a lot to learn from the Marvel approach!

1. Know your community:

To successfully connect with your target audience, you need to understand them. That's why brands need to take the time to research their customers. Knowing their interests, habits, and preferences will allow you to create targeted and relevant messages that resonate with them.

Marvel has been doing this for over 70 years, and it shows in their movies. By catering to the tastes of its audience and leveraging this information in its digital strategies, Marvel has managed to create a deep bond with their fans. It may sound simple, but it takes time and effort to understand your community truly.

2. Keep your community informed:

Another lesson from Marvel's success is the importance of informing your community. Marvel uses social media as a two-way communication channel, allowing them to converse continuously with their audience. This may seem like a minor deal, but building a relationship between brands and consumers requires cultivation. One of the best ways to do this is by providing value through your shared content. Marvel has done an excellent job of sharing exclusive content from their movies, asking their audience for feedback, and showing a more human side of superheroes by allowing them to interact on digital platforms. By doing so, they create a deeper connection with their community and keep them engaged with their brand.

3. Create a bond:

Let's talk about the power of creating a bond with your audience, which Marvel has mastered. By creating fans worldwide who become brand ambassadors, they have managed to spread the message of their superheroes through word of mouth. But don't worry. You don't have to be Marvel to create a strong customer bond. It's all about providing a positive customer experience. Marvel does this by offering a memorable experience through their movies, but for your brand, this can be achieved through consistency in your words and actions. Saying that you prioritize service means nothing if you don't follow through and provide timely solutions when a customer has a problem. Building trust and a positive customer relationship is critical to creating a lasting bond.

Marketing insights are everywhere, and we can learn from them if we pay attention. Whether engaging with a brand or enjoying our favorite movie, valuable lessons must be retained. So, I encourage you to look beyond the surface and explore the marketing strategies behind the things you love. You might discover something that can help you in your marketing endeavors.
